Home / How We Work

How we work

Nine steps, no surprises. Most clients tell us the written findings report was the moment they stopped shopping around.

The short version

Design first. Price second. Hardware last.

Almost every disappointing security system we inherit was sold the other way round: a package price, a device count, and a design reverse-engineered to fit.

Typical timeline from first call to a commissioned system: three to six weeks, depending on permits and door hardware lead times.
Start with step one

Intake call — 15 minutes

We ask what triggered the call, what you have today, who signs off and what the deadline is. If we are the wrong fit, we say so on this call and point you elsewhere.

Site walk — 45 to 90 minutes

On your property, at your operating hours. We photograph doors, ceilings, lighting, cable paths, existing devices and the routes people actually use rather than the ones on the floor plan.

Written findings & prioritised gaps

A short report: what is exposed, how badly, and what it would take to close each gap. Severity-rated, photographed, and yours to keep whether or not you hire us.

Fixed-fee design proposal

Device-by-device scope, model numbers, retention calculations, licence costs and a line-item price. No allowances, no 'to be determined' hidden in the small print.

Permitting & scheduling

We prepare alarm permit paperwork for the City of Carlsbad or your jurisdiction, coordinate with your landlord and property manager, and schedule work around your hours.

Installation by our own crew

Labelled cabling, clean penetrations, protected ceilings and daily site cleanup. A named lead technician stays with your project from first day to close-out.

Commissioning & staff training

Every device tested and documented. A 90-minute training session for the people who will use it, plus a one-page cheat sheet for evidence export.

Handover pack

As-built drawings, device inventory with serials and warranty dates, network map, credential list and written retention policy — delivered as PDF and printed.

Scheduled maintenance

Quarterly or semi-annual visits, recording verification, firmware discipline and an annual design review as the building changes.
